Benefits of effective echo cancellation

The impact of excessive reverberation (echo) in a space has been well documented – and many of us understand just how stressful excessive levels of noise can be, be it at work or out socialising with friends.  When left untreated, poor building acoustics can often lead to adverse health effects for the user, increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes.  As well as meeting regulatory requirements, architects and designers are now looking at ways to create healthy sound environments, where echo – a main driver for excessive noise, is absorbed instead of reflected, resulting in better communication and lower stress levels.

Echo cancellation treatments like our fire-rated Sonaspray acoustic sprays and Oscar Elite acoustic plaster for walls and ceilings will significantly reduce echo an noise by absorbing sound energy instead of reflecting it.  These seamless and decorative acoustic systems are available for all types of spaces and can be spray-applied at speed.  They conform to any surface shape and bond to virtually all common construction materials including plaster, concrete, wood and metal.

Echo cancellation that contributes to WELL Building Standards

WELL Building Standards recommends the use of acoustic materials that absorb sound “to support concentration and reduce reverberation” and “sound reducing surfaces” are listed in the WELL V2 accreditation document.  This awards 2 points to buildings that have undergone a specialist echo cancellation treatment, such as SonaSpray.
