Acoustic ceiling hanger for soundproofing listed buildings

Listed buildings can present a problem for the designer when looking for options to reduce sound transmission between floors.

When converting houses into flats the soundproofing requirements of 'Document E Material Change of Use' must be complied with but for listed buildings this can be quite a challenge.  Depending on the grade of listed building the designer is restricted regarding removing ceiling material and features.

The Oscar Iso-Mount Type2 fixes through the existing ceiling, fixing into the joist with a single 5mm screw for each hanger, causing the minimum interference to the listed buildings existing ceiling whilst significantly improving the soundproofing.

The standard cavity created for insulation is 50mm: 40mm insulation and a 10mm air gap.  However if the listed building has cornices and/or covings that must be retained, the Type2 Iso-Mount is available with extensions for deeper voids and improving the soundproofing of the Listed Buildings ceilings.

The acoustic ceiling fixes under the existing ceiling, both supported by the existing joists, it is not rigidly connected to the existing ceiling or walls and is sometimes referred to as a ‘floating’ soundproofing ceiling.

The Oscar Iso-Mount Type2 is also available for soundproofing between floors in listed buildings with concrete ceilings.
